Golden Thai: Service with a smile
Golden Thai has been serving up Thai favorites to downtown Toronto for more than 15 years.
The staff is friendly and the food is plentiful. All of the meals ordered at my table were large enough to share.
If you're into noodles, try the pad Thai or the spicy Thai noodles. Noodles come with shrimp, squid, chicken, egg, vegetables, and lots of combinations of these.
I ordered the green chicken curry by the waiter's suggestion. It was delicious. The chicken was in a spicy (but not overkill) green curry sauce with vegetables. I also got to sample things from the other people's dishes at my table, including mussaman beef curry, spicy Thai noodles and tamarind shrimp. All dishes were delectable.
Dinner options include noodles, seafood, chicken, beef, fish, pork and vegetable dishes. You can also have your choice of soup or salad, rice, appetizers or desserts. Main dishes range from $10 to $16, which fish and seafood dishes around $20.
For those lovebirds who enjoy sharing meals, try the Golden Thai Classics. These dinners are large, and you get a little sampling of a lot of things -- spring rolls, soup, salad, pad Thai, vegetables, rice, dessert, and the meat of your choice.
A note about the service: Since we were out-of-towners, our group asked the waiter for a suggestion of something he liked to do. He told us he liked to walk around Queen Street where there are lots of art galleries, bars and cool shops. Taking his suggestion, we did go to Queen Street, and we had a fabulous time! Thank you server, whose name has escaped me.
