The Greater Toronto Small Business Group Meetup
It's time to get off our slippers! , get together and shake the world! Our next meeting is first meeting in 2007 and it is IMPORTANT TO ATTEND it as I believe it will lead to beginning of something "new". During this meeting together we will come up with a NEW STRATEGY for our group, NEW VISION and NEW STRUCTURE that will unable our members to become a part of ?big picture? and get involved in ventures with $10,000,000+ in revenue. As agreed during our last meetings - with a name that our group had our destination was defined in a way that is not so flattering . Who can be proud of anything "small"! My suggestion to rename the group in something bigger and more aggressive was received positively. Therefore I had a few alternative names in mind but suggest following: TORONTO JOINT VENTURE GROUP (I'm adding it now thou I am open for alternative suggestions during our next meeting). With a new name new philosophy comes to place, that suggests new framework. 2006 for me as a leader and organizer could be described as a year of observation and exploration of capacity of this group and its needs. And I do believe that today we overgrew the concept of ?just another networking group of self-employed people and small business owners?. My desire to make this group a truly collaborative community was always there but it took a while for all of us to learn what would work and what wouldn't as our membership base is such diverse and unfortunately attendance has been really inconsistent. One day the venue couldn?t sit so many people, other days we didn't have enough. During our meeting I would like us to define our goals, processes and structure for 2007. Today I see that our power is not in separate that services members provide and market to each other, but in synergy between our businesses and opportunities it opens if explored creatively. The character of our group will remain highly interactive, with our regular brainstorming sessions on various subjects. We will continue to co-educate each other but now in more clearly defined environment and with rather defined action plan for our group and its members. With this new approach our responsibility to other members and commitment should grow. I also invite more engaged leadership in our group. And therefore would like to announce a call for VOLUNTEERS to fill in following HIGH PROFILE ROLES within our group. CHAIRMAN: (this role is filled in by an organizer ? truly yours Olga Kostrova). It will give me a chance to slowly remove my leadership and become more invisible letting other leaders express their abilities to lead. Call for LEADERS: Leader of MOTIVATION. This leader will assure that the group has all necessary internal tools to stay motivated, empowered, and inspired. Leader of HUMOR. This leader will provide members with humor-breaks when needed. Leader of SPIRITUALITY. This leader will make sure that during our meetings all guests and veteran-members are connected on deep levels and stay opened to spiritual contribution from each other. Leader of EDUCATION. This leader has to be well aware of ?what is new and hot? in book stores and will do a quick update on suggested items to read, to watch and to listen. This leader will also be responsible for inviting guest speakers who will provoke life discussions on various topics Leader of EVENT MANAGEMENT. This leader will be responsible for relationship with venues as well as presentation equipment and materials if required for a meeting. Leader of ATTENDENCE. This leader will have a responsibility to supervise stable attendance and growth of the group. Leader of PR. This leader?s role will be to make a presence of the group in press, blogs, on-line message boards and explore other avenues of promoting the group. Leader of SPONSORSHIP This leader will be a bridge between our group and Sponsors that can contribute value added resources or financial resources to support growth of our group and quality of our events. Leader of TECHNOLOGY. This leader?s role will be to stay informed on latest technological advancements that can help our ventures to floorish. Leader of VENTURE EXPANSION. This leader has to have a solid business consultancy experience and be able to provide leadership and mentorship in areas of venture growth. Leader of VENTURE FUNDING. This leader will be a bridge between the most promising joint ventures and sources of capital. Leader of ON-LINE PRESENCE. This leader will be responsible for assuring active interaction between members on-line on Sponsor provided collaborative platform with Sponsor provided complimentary subscription for our group. If you have another interesting leadership role to suggest, please don't be shy. Please note: In order to promote leadership in our group we will reellect leaders every 3 month so everyone will have a chance to express themselves.
