The largest Caribbean parade in North America hits the streets of Toronto for the 2010 Caribana Parade, now celebrating its 43 anniversary. The sounds, colors, tastes and rhythm of the Caribbean come to life in the vibrant city of Toronto on Saturday July 31, 2010. The event includes a variety of Masquerade Bands dressed in the brightest colors that compete for best costume in the annual parade. Embellished masquerades, steel pan bands, live soca, calypso, reggae, and salsa music and performers all join in the parade, making this one of the city’s hottest and exuberant summer events.
Over a million people attend the Caribana parade each year, with attendees coming from all over North America and the world. The parade is free of charge, and the route begins at Toronto’s Exhibition Place, running along Lakeshore Boulevard West and ends at Lakeshore and Parkside Drive. The parade begins at 10 am and ends at 6 pm.
Following the parade is a slew of Caribana nightlife celebrations. Feel the heat, join in the fun, and get ready to dance-Caribbean style at this year’s Caribana Parade in Toronto.
HelloToronto Tip: For those not wanting to stand at the free parade route, Exhibition Place is offering seating for $20, where you can watch the entire performance up close.
