Beaches International Jazz Festival: One of Toronto's most popular summer events.

Now in its 22nd year, the Beaches International Jazz Festival is one of Toronto’s most popular summer events, attracting both locals and tourists alike.  The 10-day event, running from July 16-25, attracts millions of people every year.  The festival celebrates the best of Canadian and International Jazz music, and new emerging talent.  Set outdoors in 3 different venues across the city, admission to the events is free.

Woodbine Park is where the Beaches International Jazz Festival kicks off.  The park will feature multiple stages with various Jazz performers, along with the “New Generation” and “Youth” stages showcasing young and emerging musicians.  Shows will run from July 16-18.

StreetFest, the festival’s original event, presents the best in Big Band, Swing, Afro-Cuban, Fusion, Funk, R&B and soul sounds-to name a few.  As many as 50 bands entertain audiences along the closed stretch of road of Queen Street East from July 22-24.   It is 3 days of afternoon and evenings filled with music.

Located in Toronto’s beautiful Beach community, Kew Gardens will close off the festival from July 24-25.  Jazz musicians who have garnered international recognition will perform free concerts throughout the weekend.  The combination of great music and beautiful scenery is a must-see.

New at this year’s Beaches International Jazz Festival is the Jazz Photography in the Park Project which will feature photography exhibits and displays at the Woodbine Park and Kew Gardens locations.  Combining music and photography, images of the festival from the past 22 years will be displayed.  Also new at this year’s festival is Latin Concerts.  Latin on the Boardwalk will feature live bands, workshops, dance demonstrations, conga lines, and much more.  Located on Lee Avenue, next to the Boardwalk, it combines Latin music on the beach.

HelloToronto Tip:  The Beaches International Jazz Festival offers customized Jazz Experience Tour Packages which include escorted tours, jazz themed dinner concerts, workshops, club crawls, and special activities.  They also arrange accommodation and transportation.
