A prominent Toronto fixture for 40 years now, the Ontario Science Centre is one of the world’s first interactive science museums. Combining accessible experiences and science together, it is a must visit place for both children and adults alike. Since it’s opening, the Ontario Science Centre has hosted over 40 million visitors from around the world and remains as one of Canada’s most visited attractions.
Over the years, the Ontario Science Centre has seen its share of accomplishments. In 1969, John Lennon and Yoko Ono held a press conference at the Science Centre. In 1974, the Science Centre was home to the first world crafts exhibition, which featured artisans from 50 countries. In 1982, the Science Centre broke attendance records as 1.5 million visitors came to see the China: 7,000 Years of Discovery exhibition. The 90’s saw the opening of several new features at the Science Centre. In 1996, Ontario’s first IMAX Dome theatre opened at the Ontario Science Centre. In 2009, the Body Worlds & The Story of the Heart exhibition was a part of the Science Centre. A fascinating exhibition, it gave visitors a look into the human body, health and disease.
Today, the Ontario Science Centre continues to host a variety of exhibitions and features for science enthusiasts and those looking for something new to see and do in the city of Toronto. From science and nature, to geology, to astronomical science, to music and technology, to human anatomy and communications, these are just some of the exhibit categories available at the Ontario Science Centre.
Make it a day event and take in all the sights the Science Centre has to offer. There are also a variety of restaurants and cafes on site and a Mastermind Toys Gift Shop where you can shop for educational toys, books, games and gifts.
